Home’s revamp includes cinema and a tearoom
6:00am Tuesday 8th July 2014 in News
A CINEMA, tearoom and library have been unveiled as part of a Wallingford care home’s £150,000 renovation.
The upgrade included building a single-storey extension which incorporated a garden room and patio.
A ribbon was cut to celebrate the opening of the new wing, and county councillor Judith Heathcoat, cabinet member for adult social care, and Dan Hayes, operations director of The Orders of St John Care Trust, which owns the home, were taken on a VIP tour.
Mrs Heathcoat said: “I thought the facilities were lovely, I liked the atmosphere.
“I thought it was very tranquil and that if someone was diagnosed with dementia it would help them to be calmer than they would before.”
Mr Hayes said: “It has been a real success story, and so far so good, it seems to have made an improvement to the residents.
“The Department of Health grant has rejuvenated the whole wing.”
