A consultation into the Northern Gateway area action plan has opened.

Oxford City Council this week began asking residents to comment on the business park scheme, which would be located on land bordered by the A40, A34 and the A44. Up to 500 homes could also be built on the site.

Comments can be made until September 15 at consultation.oxford.gov.uk/consult.ti/ NorthernGatewayProSub

Yes, sounds good; please make the Cutteslowe and Wolvercote roundabouts with lights and safe cycle lanes your first priority - and provide plenty of parking at the new station. The rest can follow once the infrastructure is there.

In what way does it sound good? This whole area is already heavily congested most of the day, without all the extra traffic that the new buildings will attract.

And the Oxford Mail seems to have dug up a map which has no relation to the Northern Gateway scheme!

The documentation suggests that a new school would be needed if they put 800 homes on the site but not for 500.....

Interesting documents though the noise assessment document written on assumption of 200 not 500 homes. I wonder who came up with the idea for this sentence "lower speed limits to increase pedestrian and cycle permeability".

Problem is that you can't please everyone - and the additional homes would be an asset for Oxford and revenue source for City Council. However, traffc and vehicles remain major sources for worry over the plan, and which could not only add to traffic congestion, but also people congestion!
