A PERFORMING arts student aims to show why his group are called the ‘One Direction of dance’ when their audition airs on television this weekend.

Headington teen Jaih Betote will put his best foot forward on Got To Dance when it is shown at 8pm on Sky 1 HD on Saturday.

The 16-year-old is part of the five-man group Boyband who will battle it out with about 80 acts for a spot in three live heats later in August.

The grand final is on August 29, when eight groups will compete for the top spot.

Jaih, of Barton Lane, Headington, said: “We have put a lot of work in and are hoping to get through.

“Our routine is going to be a surprise because we are in this competition to win it – people should expect the unexpected.”

Dancing alongside Jaih in Boyband will be Mike McNeish, 17, Dylan Moyoral, 17, and Michael Ureta, 18, all from London, and Corey Culverwell, 17, who lives in Staffordshire.

They took the name after people said they all look and act like they belong in a boy band and like being told they are the One Direction of dance.

The boys have been friends for five years since they met at the London dance academy Zoo.

The Got to Dance contest is now in its fifth season. This year’s winners are in line to walk away with prize money totalling £250,000.
