SIX teenagers from Bicester Community College are cycling about 1,000 miles to fund a school trip to Peru.

Max Beedell, Georgia Down, Robyn Williams, Bethan Rand, Dowie Higginson and Katrina Myers are cycling 166 miles each to achieve their goal.

All this week the 15-year-olds have been using the static bikes at Bicester Leisure Centre in Queens Avenue.

Next year 25 pupils from the college will visit Peru for a month after they have taken their GCSEs to help build a school.

While they are in the South American country they will also visit Machu Picchu and the Amazon basin.

Dowie said: “The trip costs £4,000 each so that’s what we are really raising money for.

“We chose to cycle 1,000 miles because that is the same as cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats, and we thought it was a good challenge.

“The cycling has been really tiring but we have been taking turns on the bikes and hopefully it will be worth the effort.”
