YOUNGSTERS went barking mad at Harcourt Arboretum yesterday as they took a tour of the trees and used bits of bark to make bookmarks and bracelets.

The Brilliant Bark event, which runs from 1pm to 4pm until Monday at the Oxford University arboretum, near Nuneham Courtenay, allows children to learn about the diverse range of plants and their role in our ecosystem.

Oxford Mail:

Five-year-old Alex Miller, above, who visited with his mum Emma Sullivan, said: “I really enjoyed my day, it was great. I love being outside and running around in the fresh air. The things I liked most were being with my friends having fun and also the peacocks.”

Ms Sullivan said: “It was great fun, we went and took part in the brilliant bark trail and found different types of trees around the arboretum.

“The kids got to make bookmarks and bracelets from the bark and they all seemed to really enjoy it. Alex really enjoyed himself, it was a great event.”
