YET again the people of Oxfordshire have shown their generosity. It is always amazing and touching to report on our county’s acts of kindness.

The latest generosity comes from those who have contributed to Simon Winters’ and Julie Willoughby’s wedding.

It is meant to be the most special day of a couple’s life, but their dream day has been beset by difficulties.

Mr Winters lost his brother Paul in a car crash that also left his father Peter in a coma just weeks before their original July wedding date.

And Miss Willoughby has had to contend with the heartbreaking news that her father Donald is critically ill.

She is determined to have him walk her down the aisle but is facing a race against time – needing to get everything together in three weeks.

To do so, all those small details that couples normally have months to perfect need to be arranged at short notice.

Mr Winters’ brother Steve appealed for help online on Facebook. The results have been phenomenal, with more than 100 people offering to provide assistance to make their big day extra special.

From wedding cake to popcorn makers for children, the outpouring of offers shows great compassion. Thanks to so many people’s generosity, the couple will be able to share their magical day with their loved ones before it is too late and cherish the memories.
