YOUNG and old enjoyed a village fete atmosphere at the Jolly Boatman pub, Banbury Road, Kidlington, as they helped raise money for the Adderbury-based Katharine House Hospice yesterday.

Four-year-old Seb Howells, from Warwickshire, spent an afternoon in the sun on the bouncy castle before meeting firefighters and sitting in their fire engine.

He said: “I love fire engines. It was good to be able to take a closer look and not just see it whizz past.”

Barclays Bank in Woodstock has agreed to match every donation to the tombola, pound for pound, up to £1,000.

Organiser Chris Fry said: “We are hoping to do these events on a regular basis. We would like stallholders selling local produce and crafts to get in touch.”
