THE cast of musical Rock of Ages wore mortar boards to give the people of Oxford a lesson in rock ‘n’ roll before taking to the New Theatre stage.

The show, which runs until tomorrow, features former The Bill star Ben Richards and Hear’Say singer Noel Sullivan.

It tells the story of a small town girl and a big city rocker falling in love in the ’80s, accompanied by classic songs from the decade.

Mr Richards said: “Oxford is a beautiful city that is filled with such a diverse age group.

Our top stories

“We’re super excited to be welcoming the rockers that partied through the 1980s and all the Oxford students who are up for a good time.”

Mr Sullivan, from Cardiff, said: “It’s lovely to be back in Oxford. It’s equidistant between London and Wales so a lot of friends are coming along. This theatre has a real feel of home for me.

“Rock Of Ages is a great ’80s show. If you remember all the big rock numbers of the day, you will love it.”
