RESIDENTS of Chalgrove will once again be able to enjoy a popular footpath after volunteers came together for a resurfacing project.

The circular footpath on Mill Lane, which runs from Mill Lane to the fields behind Langley Road, has previously been unusable for much of the year because of thick mud in the winter and nettles blocking the path in summer.

The Chalgrove Wildlife and Conservation Society (CWaCS) organised the effort, funded by a number of organisations including the Trust for Oxfordshire Environment and residents themselves.

Chairman of the society Jack Nabb, 63, an NHS administrator, said: “We are delighted to have been able to resurface this footpath.

Our top stories

“It now gives year-round access to a great circular walk for everyone.

“We need to ensure as many walks remain open for health and fitness as possible.

“For a few years now we’ve been trying to do something about it.

“We’re encouraging people to use the footpath. It’s healthy, it’s green and it gives access to recreation.

“The feedback we’ve had so far has been really promising.”

The footpath will be officially opened on Saturday at 11am.
