OXFORD Fashion Week is to launch with an opening party, marking the start of a week of runway shows across the city.

The glittering party on Monday will run from 10pm at the Radcliffe Camera before shows start on Wednesday.

The week will feature models, designers, artists and photographers from across Oxfordshire in five fashion shows.

Events will feature models wearing clothes from high street shops and independent and couture designers from across the country.

There is also a lingerie show, and the week will close with a themed Birds of Paradise show, where all of the clothes have been inspired by colourful birds, held at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

The week will be an autumnal counterpart to the spring/summer show, held in March.

Carl Anglim, who founded the event in 2009, returned to the helm as director this year after not being involved with the 2012 show.

He said: “We’ve been thinking about doing an autumn/winter week for a while, and there was so much demand for it in spring that we decided to go for it.

“It means people get to see designers’ full collections, not just their summer clothes. It’s really exciting.”
