Downton Abbey will return for a sixth series, ITV has confirmed.
The popular period drama, which has filmed outdoor scenes across the district in locations including Bampton and Witney’s Cogges Manor Farm museum, will be produced next year.
There will also be a special episode to air at Christmas. Producers have yet to confirm the full cast.
Bampton resident Lesley Campbell said it was “fantastic news for the village”.
She said: “When they last filmed here they were all hopeful that they would be coming back so we were quite optimistic but the decisions are in the hands of executives.’’
