A SEVERE weather warning for wind has been issued for Oxfordshire for Thursday and Friday .

The yellow warning from the Met Office is in place from 9pm on Thursday until 6pm on Friday.

The Met Office said there is the potential for gales or severe gales and heavy rain.

A yellow warning is the lowest level of warning and means people should be aware of branches or trees being brought down.

There may be travel problems for high-sided vehicles and people are advised to drive with care.

Met Office chief forecaster Eddie Carroll said: “Gales or severe gales are likely to develop with gusts of 50-60mph quite widely in the warning area.

“A period of heavy rain may also make for tricky driving conditions at times.

“This is a very dynamic situation and details of this development will likely change.

“This alert will be updated in the coming days as confidence grows in track and timing of this low pressure system.”
