Jack O’Connell has been named EE Rising Star in the only Bafta award voted for by the public.
Jack, the star of ’71 and Unbroken, was previously in youth drama Skins.
The 24-year-old was up against Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Margot Robbie, Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley.
The award will catapult the winner into the spotlight but it also bodes well for future careers.
Here we look at the previous winners of the award, now in it’s 10th year.
2014 – Will Poulter
2013 – Juno Temple
2012 – Adam Deacon
Adam saw off competition from a couple of guys you might have heard a bit about: Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston. We saw him in Kidulthood and Adulthood and most recently as tactical response officer Robbie in Channel 4′s Babylon.
2011 – Tom Hardy
This was a tough year to get a win, with Tom going up against Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Gemma Arterton and Aaron Johnson.
2010 – Kristen Stewart
The Twilght lead won the award ahead of nominees Nicholas Hoult, Carey Mulligan, Tahar Rahim and Jesse Eisenberg.
2009 – Noel Clarke
Noel Clarke was keeping good company on the nominations list. It also featured Michael Cera and Michael Fassbender along with Rachel Hall.
2008 – Shia LeBeouf
2007 – Eva Green
French actress Eva Green picked up the award in 2007, only the second time it had been awarded.
2006 – James McAvoy
In its inaugural year, Bafta certainly picked a worthy winner with none other than James McAvoy collecting the honour.
