Two men have been charged with Public Order Act offences following an English Defence League demonstration held in Oxford city centre yesterday.
About 150 members of the EDL marched from Oxford rail station to St Aldate's via County Hall, while a counter-protest by members of Unite Against Fascism met at Bonn Square.
Christopher Bishop, aged 49, of Evans Lane, Kidlington, and Daniel Williams, aged 24, of Cromer Road, Bristol, were both charged today with one count of using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Police said the charges related to an incident at Bonn Square, Oxford, yesterday.
Bishop and Williams were bailed to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on May 12.
No further action was taken against a 45-year-old man from Summertown, Oxford, arrested on suspicion of failing to comply with a Section 35 notice (failure to leave an area on request from police).
