POLICE in Banbury want to get their crime prevention message on the streets before summer arrives.
A roadshow aimed to show people simple ways to secure their homes and bikes.
Burglaries are usually at their peak in the summer months, as more people leave windows and doors unlocked.
At the roadshow, held near the Sunshine Centre, in Bretch Hill, on Thursday, people could get their bikes and possessions marked with UV pens, get security advice and speak to officers from the Ruscote, Hardwick, Hanwell Fields and Neithrop Neighbourhood Team, as well as Banbury CID.
Officers also walked around the area and offered security advice to residents on the doorstep.
Sgt Jade Hewitt, from Banbury police station, said: “We are taking the Have Your Say meetings to the doors of people who might not otherwise be able to attend."
“We wanted to see people who live in our community and we wanted to know what their issues are.
“We also offered security advice, such as avoiding leaving doors and windows open – things that will help prevent you becoming a victim of crime.”
