IT will be another warm day today across Oxfordshire but temperatures will not quite reach the blistering heights of Wednesday.

Met Office forecaster Mark Wilson said there will be plenty of sunshine and although it may get cloudier later temperatures could still reach 26 or 27C.

But tonight the weather will break with a severe weather warning across much of the UK.

The Met Office is predicting isolated heavy, and possibly severe, thunderstorms are expected to develop this evening in Oxfordshire, most likely about 11pm onwards.

A yellow warning, meaning be aware of disruption, has been released for the county.

The Met Office said storms could be severe, with torrential downpours and large hail.

Up to 30 mm of rain is possible in less than an hour, with as much as 50 mm possible in three hours very locally.

It will be a good start to the weekend though with Saturday morning starting fine and temperatures creeping up again to 25 or 26C across the county.

Steve Lee, marketing manager at Hinksey Pool off Abingdon Road, Oxford, said they're expecting more visitors over the weekend after seeing about 2,000 people in just two days this week.
