TWELVE replicas of a Turner painting of Oxford’s High Street are on display around the city to promote a photography contest.

Following a £860,000 fundraising campaign to keep the landscape picture at the Ashmolean Museum, staff are now inviting members of the public to take part in #MyOxfordView. Entrants can send in their “personal view of Oxford”, captured on a camera or phone. The winning entries – for three age groups – will go on display in the museum’s cafe in September.

Director of public engagement Susan McCormack said: ‘It’s been a great way of getting as many people as possible to see the picture and to take part in our photography competition, but I’d like to thank the many local people who helped us acquire the painting with generous donations.”

Competition entries must be submitted on Twitter, Instagram or Flickr with the hashtag #MyOxfordView by August 17.
