The ethics of animal testing is being debated in the city this week.
Academics have descended on Oxford University’s Anglican theological college St Stephen’s House for the three-day summer school. Today philosophers, historians and legal experts will give talk on the subject.
Oxford University has killed more than 200,00 animals during research, including 29 monkeys, 2,040 reptiles, 41 ferrets, 18 pigs and 75 guinea pigs, a Freedom of Information request revealed in 2013.
