VISITORS to Oxford’s Jam Factory have been enjoying a new eye-opening painting exhibition by a local artist.
Transmute, a new collection of paintings by Stephen Goodman, is on display in the Restaurant Gallery, in Hollybush Row.
The paintings were created using bitumen oil, acrylic paint and spray paint to create a layered photographic effect.
Mr Goodman, 23, from Mixbury, near Brackley, said: “The act of creating this work is a grounding experience for me, and I wish to translate this for the viewer. We are unable to control time, but these paintings embrace this lack of control and embrace progression and the joy of the unknown.”
The Bath Spa University graduate said the paintings were inspired by the mythology of Iceland.
Jam Factory art manager Gena Johns said: “The work is really interesting and Stephen has created some amazing paintings for us to display.
The exhibition will end on September 21.
