MEMBERS of public have called the police following the appeal for Billy Johnson wanted in connection with the Abingdon shooting.

Thames Valley Police put out a mass appeal yesterday for any information about the whereabouts of 20-year-old Johnson who they want to speak to about the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Kerry Reeves in Abingdon on Tuesday night.

Today, police spokesman Gareth Ford-Lloyd said: “We have received a number of calls from the public, following the media appeal yesterday.

"Detectives are busy following up on these leads and we are grateful for the help of the public in assisting us.

"It is still vitally important that if anyone has information, especially in relation to Billy Johnson, that they contact us as soon as possible."

Oxford Mail:

Miss Reeves' grandfather Patrick Reeves, 65, told a press conference yesterday: "As a family we are completely devastated, not only by the loss of our beautiful young girl but the horrific way Kerry was taken from us at the age of 26.

"We need to know what happened to Kerry that night. We need people to help us understand how she came to die in such a brutal way.

"We need people to help us ensure justice is done for this beautiful girl Kerry."

Mr Reeves urged the public to contact police with any information about her death or Johnson's whereabouts.

Johnson is believed to have a firearm, possibly a handgun.

Born in Northamptonshire, he has links with Abingdon and West London, but police have said he could be anywhere in the South East.

Anyone who believes they have seen Johnson is warned not to approach him but call 999 immediately.
