PEOPLE braved the blustery weather to carry out essential conservation work on a wildlife site in West Oxfordshire.
Oxford Conservation Volunteers spent last Sunday at the Jubilee Fields nature reserve at Wootton improving the lowland wet meadows and access for the general public.
Volunteers repaired a section of fence in the fields and began work on a new one at another part of the site, between the river Glyme and the river Dorn, to keep grazing cattle in.
Conservation volunteers treasurer Tim Bletsoe said: “All of our tasks are conservation work, either to maintain or improve habitat or to improve public access.
“We’re lucky as a group in that we have an excellent skill set from our volunteers, tools and a good working relationship with our clients that help keep our tasks diverse and in some cases challenging.
“We run tasks every Sunday and a few Saturdays a year and new volunteers are always welcome.”
He added: “No experience is necessary and we provide the training and tools needed and of course the tea and biscuits.
“I’ve been a regular volunteer for over five years, so now it’s not only spending the day in the great outdoors, but with friends as well.”
