Official GCSE tables released today showed grades in Oxfordshire's schools have risen after a drop in 2014.

The Department for Education released figures which showed 59.7 per cent of the county's pupils who took their exams at the end of Year 11 in 2015 got at least five A* to C grades including English and maths.

The national average was 57.1 per cent.

Last year the average in Oxfordshire was 59.4 per cent.

Wallingford School was the top performing school in the county, with 78 per cent of pupils at each getting five A* to C grades including English and maths.

The Oxford Academy in Littlemore was the most improved school, with 51 per cent of students achieving five A* to C grades including English and maths- up from 28 per cent last year.
