SHADOWS danced on the walls of the Pitt Rivers Museum when youngsters got to try their hand at making and animating puppets.

The session was held in celebration of Chinese New Year on Monday, with children making dragon shadow puppets.

Anna Woodhead came from Stony Stratford in Milton Keynes with her three-year-old son Tom for the workshop, saying it is one of her son’s favourite museums.

She said: “Tom had a really great time making the puppets and learning how to animate them.

“It was a really good day out for him and I think he enjoyed himself.”

Tom also seemed to think the event was a good way to spend a Saturday. He said: “I had lots of fun making the dragon puppet.”

On Thursday, February 25, the museum will be offering an after-hours exclusive guided tour, where visitors can explore collections of hand-made objects from every continent and throughout human history.
