Oxford Brookes University was given the all-clear after firefighters tackled a blaze at the Headington campus last night.

Four fire engines were spotted outside the campus in Gipsy Lane at about 7pm.

This morning the university confirmed there was a small fire at its Abercrombie building, but the site is open as normal today.

Spokesman Matthew Butler said: “There was a small fire on the University’s Headington Campus last night which was quickly dealt with by the fire service.

"There was no damage to property and the campus and all buildings remain open as usual today.”
