Jobseekers are being reminded there are just days to go until a jobs fair at Oxford Town Hall where hundreds of career opportunities will be on offer.

The Oxford Mail's sister paper The Oxford Times has organised its first ever jobs fair and it will be held on Thursday at the town hall in St Aldate's, from 10am to 5pm.

Major employers from across the county have signed up for exhibition stands including Oxford University Hospitals, the RAF, Army Careers, Thames Valley Police, learning disabilities charity Style Acre, Grundon Waste Management and event sponsors Day and Nightcare (crct) Assistance.

There are now 35 companies which have confirmed attendance and BMW UK Manufacturing is among the latest to sign up.

Supermarket chain Waitrose, which last year opened a new store on Botley Road, is also seeking to recruit new staff and the Midcounties Co-operative has vacancies in food retail, travel and health care.

Tesco has also booked a stand at the jobs fair and is looking to recruit store managers.

Another firm taking part is food supplier Fresh Direct, which has a base in Bicester.

It is one of the UK's top wholesale food suppliers, supplying popular restaurant brands.

There are a number of different vacancies for customer services, warehouse staff and lorry drivers.

Jobs fair co-ordinator Belinda Rand said: "We now have 35 companies signed up and by the time the jobs fair opens there could be 40 firms taking part.

"There are major employers on the list and we are delighted that BMW UK Manufacturing is one of the latest to confirm it will be attending.

"It is going to be a very busy day, with lots of job opportunities on offer."

Those attending are invited to bring their CVs so that they can leave their details with employers.
