Primark in the Westgate Shopping Centre closed its doors for the last time on Saturday.
The shop announced earlier this year that it would close today as work progresses on the £440m revamp of the centre that is due to be completed by autumn next year.
But shoppers in Oxford will still be able to get their hands on Primark after the chain opened a new branch in Queen Street.
It had previously said it would cease trading in the city on March 12 and that its 190 staff would be able to apply for jobs at its new Banbury store which opened last year.
When it was announced the company would stay in the city by opening in Queen Street Oxford City Council leader Bob Price said he was pleased.
He said: "It shows confidence in Oxford’s retail sector and it will be good for shoppers who have loyally supported the company during its years here.”
