DAYS after thousands of runners completed the London Marathon, students at Oxford Brookes took on a 26.2 mile challenge of their own.
The team from the university's physiotherapy society made the decision to run 3km each and combine their distances to cover the length of a full marathon.
Their effort was organised in aid of charity Supershoes, a completely voluntary organisation that creates personalised shoes to cheer up children suffering from cancer.
When the students began fundraising they set themselves a target of £300, which they have now surpassed and are aiming to hit a total of £500 after Tuesday's successful marathon.
Physiotherapy Society vice-president Louise Bliss said: "We’ve chosen to raise money for Supershoes as we believe they make a great difference to the wellbeing of children with cancer.
"One of the organisers of the event has seen Supershoes make a direct impact on children’s willingness to participate in physiotherapy so it’s something we’ve very keen to raise money for."
