A MOTHER accused of murdering her 20-month-old baby will begin her trial at Oxford Crown Court on October 4.

The prospective date for the trial of Angela Whitworth was announced for the first time during a pre inquest review on Tuesday into Sarah Dahane's death.

The review, held at Oxfordshire Coroner's Court, updated coroner Darren Salter on proceedings before he postponed the inquest into Sarah's death for criminal proceedings.

Det Supt Ian Hunter told the hearing: "A press conference was held on February 25 to raise awareness of the investigation and to seek information from either here in the UK or overseas.

"The information was to locate a 43-year-old female we were looking for.

"Subsequently, a 43-year-old female was arrested in Kampala, Uganda, on March 9.

"She was deported and handed over to British officers on March 23, before returning to the UK on March 24 to appear at Oxford Magistrates court the same day."

Ms Whitworth, of no fixed abode, is accused of murdering Sarah, whose body was found in a house in Bicester in May 2013.

The provisional date for October has been pushed back from the initial September 19 date given at Ms Whitworth's preliminary hearing.

The inquest into Sarah's death will remain adjourned until criminal proceedings are finished.
