FANCY-DRESS, brick-laying and hay bale pushing all put young farmers from across Oxfordshire to the test on Sunday as they gathered for the annual county rally.

This year Bicester's Young Farmers took the helm to host the 2016 Oxfordshire's Young Farmers County Show and Rally.

Crowds of young farmers turned out to show off their skills alongside a number of vintage tractor displays, animal shows and traditional family fun and games.

Abingdon young farmer Ella Stevens, 19, paired up with Billy Saunders, 22, to dress up as a comedy clown duo.

She said: "We are here representing Abingdon Young Farmers for Oxfordshire at the Rally.

"Billy and I have come along to take part in the wheelbarrow racing for the intermediate class.

"I have been coming to young farmers for two years now and Billy for five years, so I am quite a young one."

The county show and rally was held in Middleton Stoney near Bicester and included the duck and dog show, parade of hounds and carnival float display which this year had a West End Musical theme.

Some farmers were put to task in the weekend sunshine for a number of competitions including the hay bale pushing, brick laying competitions and working horses were also out on show displaying their skills.

Witney young farmers Giorgio Pieroni, 16, and Eleanor Jennings, 15, also took part in the fancy dress wheelbarrow race.

Mr Pieroni said: "It is about inviting families and friends along to our annual rally and enjoying the Sunday."
