COUSINS Katy Storey and Claire Ord were all smiles as they waved to the crowd at Harwell Feast this morning.

Hanging out the top of her dad's Citroen 2CV, Miss Storey said the family had been involved with the village traditions for more than 20 years.

The 22-year-old criminology student said: "My family live in Harwell and we just decided last night to enter the car in the parade.

"We thought, 'why not?' – we've been doing this since we moved here when I was one.

"It is such a lovely family tradition and you bump into people you haven't seen for years, like people I went to school with or people you know in the village."

This year, some villagers dressed as Vikings for re-enactment fun alongside classic fayre stalls and refreshments.

Birds of prey, the Harwell and Chilton Churches Orchestra, ferret racing and vintage vehicles were all on display for the feast-goers.

Miss Storey added: "I think my favourite part of the feast, year after year, is just getting everybody together.

"I'm home now from university after I finishing my second year and it is a great way to get back into the community again."

Organised by the Harwell Feast Committee, chairman Gareth Buxton said: "We really hope this is going to be a great way to end the bank holiday as it is every year."
