1. Our top story: Mental health professionals based in primary schools will offer children support as part of a pilot project from September.

The scheme will involve three primary schools in the county and could be rolled out further by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust if successful.

5. Picture of the day: More than 380 currant buns were hurled yesterday in the Abingdon Bun Throwing Championships.

Winner of the obscure traditional contest was Duncan Au, a former javelin-thrower who gained a sweet taste of victory after a whopping throw of 156ft 4in.

Trophy in hand, the Bristol resident gamely agreed to fling one last bun in the direction of our photographer Damien Halliwell after the win/
