FAMILY activities are being promoted by Oxfordshire County Council during the school holidays.
The council is backing the Change4Life 10 Minute Shake Up with Disney campaign to help families keep fit.
Activities sessions will start with a play day on Eynsham playing field in Oxford Road from 11am to 3pm today.
Council staff will join forces with local leisure centres to demonstrate the 10 Minute Shake Ups and promote Finding Dory-inspired family swim sessions at pools across the county, approved by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).
Free events will be held at Banbury Play Day on Wednesday and Dalton Barracks in Abingdon on Friday.
The team will also be attending a special play scheme at Rose Hill Primary School in Oxford on Monday, August 8.
Advice on healthy eating will also be a feature of the sessions.
Cabinet member for public health Hilary Hibbert-Biles said: "Too much inactive time is bad for a child’s physical, social and mental wellbeing.
"Being active helps children to build social skills, boost self-confidence, improve bone and heart health and maintain a healthy weight.
"Every 10-minute burst of exercise can make a real difference in helping children to reach the 60 minutes they need each day."
