A book of condolences has been opened for Oxford City managing director Colin Taylor.

The 62-year-old's body was found at City's Marsh Lane ground on Sunday morning.

The club announced yesterday the book was available in the Community Arena for all those who knew him to sign and record memories and messages.

It comes as an emotional minute's silence was observed as Oxford City won their first match since his death

City chairman Brian Cox said coaches and players were in tears as the tribute was paid to Mr Taylor before the club's pre-season friendly against Marlow FC on Thursday night.

The club went ahead with the game to honour the father-of-two, who had volunteered with Oxford City for more than 20 years, and the team ran out 2-1 winners.

Mr Cox said: "A couple of the coaches were in tears and it seems to have affected the players as well.

"It was obviously a very sad occasion, the first game without Colin, but we had to carry on and play the game."

Goals before half-time from their ex-Basingstoke recruits Louie Soares and Shaun McAuley continued the club's winning streak in pre-season.

A short film about Oxford City's role in the community has been recirculated by the club in the wake of Mr Taylor's death.

The five-minute short film, made by ex-player Stephen Fontaine, heavily features the managing director and his role in forming teams for disabled players and growing the women's game in the community.
