A BANBURY man has been jailed after holding a knife to his victim's throat and demanding money. 

Ryan Kane, of Juniper Court, pleaded guilty to one count of affray and one count of robbery at Oxford Crown Court on Monday where he was later sentenced to 30 months in prison, police said.

The sentence relates to two separate incidents in which the 31-year-old threatened victims and demanded money.

On 27 February 2016, Kane broke into a house in Prescott Avenue, Banbury where a 27-year-old man was sleeping.

After ransacking the house for money he forced the victim on to a bed, held him by the throat and helf a knife to his throat.

The man agreed to go to a cash point and escaped to safety.

He was arrested the following day and was charged in connection with the affray on 29 February 2016.

On 17 October 2015 at around 1am Kane, along with three other men threatened a 48-year-old man in Edmunds Road, Banbury.

The man handed over money after Kane threatened to set his friends on him if he did not.

Kane was charged with the robbery on 23 November 2015.

On Monday he was sentenced to 16 months’ imprisonment for the affray and 14 months’ imprisonment for the robbery, to run consecutively, making a total sentence of 30 months’ imprisonment.
