POUNDLAND in Witney was forced to close early when the store lost power and its fire alarm was activated, the Oxford Mail understands.
Fire engines could be seen outside the store, in High Street, at about 1pm this afternoon.
A member of staff from The 16 restaurant next door, who didn't wish to be named, told the Oxford Mail: "As far as I know all the lights went off and then the fire alarm.
"Fire crews came and looked all around the building but couldn't find any fire.
"After the fire service did there checks and left they had electricians come into the store, but they had to close."
More to follow.
