AMERICAN folk singer Peggy Seeger will lead a protest demonstration at Templars Square Shopping centre.
The half-sister of folk legend Pete Seeger will join other campaigners in a demonstration at the centre from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
The group, many of whom previously protested the closure of Temple Cowley Pools, are fighting against the loss of further leisure and fitness facilities.
Ms Seeger, who now lives in Oxford, said: “I have been singing for human rights and working for human rights for people all over the country and for the past few years worked with local people to save our local swimming pools, diving pool, gym, exercise studio, sauna and steam rooms at Temple Cowley.
“On Saturday we will have our latest petition for people to sign in support of the city council addressing the issue of the loss of health, fitness and exercise facilities which they themselves have acknowledged affects 40,000 people who live in the area, and which has come to be known as ‘the blue hole’.”
The group will have maps showing the affected area.
Ms Seeger added: “We invite all those who are interested in getting their voices heard and who want and need exercise facilities where we can access them to come along and meet us and sign the latest petition.”
