ALL lanes have reopened after a distressed horse forced police to close both carriageways on the A34.

Both the north and southbound roads had been closed this afternoon between the Botley Interchange and Hinksey Hill Interchange.

Hannah Jones, a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "A horse was trapped and distressed while being transported in a horse transporter.

"The road had to be closed for public safety to prevent any collisions in the event the horse became further distressed and escaped from the vehicle.

"The horse has minor injuries but is OK."
