A CARPET of bright white snowdrops greeted visitors to Letcombe Regis in Wantage as part of a special trail weekend.

People came from far and wide on Saturday to admire the tiny flowers all over the village including in the churchyard at St Andrew's Church.

Bellringer Anne Williams has spent the past 20 years planting snowdrops around Letcombe Regis and spent the day hanging out 'snowdrop maps' from the Greyhound Inn.

Mel Soles, from Hungerford, happened to be passing the village with a group of Berkshire walkers when he spotted the blooms.

The 64-year-old said: "It was lovely. There were an awful lot of snowdrops around the village; it was quite special. It's funny how they all seem to come out at the same time."

On the day villagers also held a snowdrop sale at St Andrew's in the afternoon.
