THE dramatic change in Oxford's skyline is shown in this stunning aerial photos of the new Westgate Centre.

Builders are on track to complete the city's biggest construction job in time for its October 24 reopening and the huge structure has taken its place among the city's iconic dreaming spires.

After bulldozing the old 1970s shopping centre, a hive of building activity has commenced over the past few months to transform the land.

The £440m redevelopment of the centre is revamping the remaining sections of its original arcade as well as adding a major extension.

Three new sections have been built, with workers now applying exterior cladding and inside structures.

Among the high street favourites to be pitching up in the new centre include a new 140,000sqft John Lewis store as well as Body Shop, Smashbox, Accessorize, Lush and Hotel Chocolat.

Food offerings include Pho, Pizza Pilgrims, The Alchemist and Sticks 'n' Sushi as well as a public roof garden complete with cocktail bar.

Overall the Westgate centre will feature more than 100 stores and 25 restaurants and cafes as well as a new Curzon cinema.
