AN EBOLA vaccine has been shown to provide immunity for up to a year in a new Oxford University study.

The findings, based on a clinical trial involving 75 healthy subjects, were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The study was led by the Oxford Vaccine Group at Oxford University.

Dr Matthew Snape, from the university’s Department of Paediatrics, who led the research, said: “This study was conducted in a European population, so it’s important to note that immune responses may differ in a sub-Saharan African population.

“The persistence of vaccine-induced immunity to one year post-immunisation is impressive.”
