A BUSTLING library was bursting with families and adults with a keen interest in unlocking a piece of Bicester's past at the Potted History event.

A host of activities for both adults and children were put on by Oxfordshire Museum Service and the Bicester History Society.

The day included fun and games, fancy dress and the creation of a time capsule.

Oxfordshire Museum Service member Carol Anderson said: "Bicester Library was busy for the ‘Potted History’ Family day on Saturday, March 18.

"On offer were activities for children and adults as well as two talks by Bob Hessian from the Bicester History Society giving an overview of the town's history.

"Children used wacky costumes, historical props and lots of imagination to create their own historical event, which they could then use to create an alternative version of Bicester’s history.

"Adults had fun identifying mystery objects and chatting about local historical events."

Bicester Local History Society, which has a permanent base at the Bicester Library, had a number of objects on display to uncover interesting facts of the town's past.

This includes 19th century bottles and a tea cup depicting a historical Sheep Street as may seem a distant memory for many.
