PAYING with wireless or contactless technology could be about to get more secure after a team of Oxford researchers came up with a new device to increase security.
Together with phone company Nokia and packaging firm Bay Photonics Oxford University academics at the Department of Physics have built a system for transmitting quantum ‘keys’ that can detect hackers ‘eavesdropping’ and stealing signals sent wirelessly.
A prototype gadget has been created that sends secret keys to encrypt information passed from mobile devices to payment terminals.
