WE all know about Radiohead, Foals, Ride and Gaz Coombes, but the latest musical phenomenon to come out of Oxford is a little more quirky – a garden shed.

For the past few years East Oxford DJs Aidan Larkin and Peepshow Paddy have enlivened festivals up and down the country with their Disco Shed – a hut kitted out with turntables, lights and speakers. And after their success at Oxford's inaugural Common People festival last year, the organisers have invited them back to this year's event, in South Park, on May 27-28.

Paddy and Aidan, who plays under the name Count Skylarkin, yesterday unveiled the Disco Shed's line-up for the festival weekend, with a mix of soul, funk, house, techno, punk, breaks, electro, indie, rock & roll, rhythm & blues, Latin, hip–hop, drum & bass, dubstep and, of course, reggae.

Saturday features Count Skylarkin himself & partner in crime DJ Wrongtom, Bustmasta Barry Dark, DJ Shepdog, Kerry & Casio V Harbet K-Tel, DJ Circles & Oxford pin-up Nelly B Page, DJ Dapper Dan, Reggae Bingo, Alex from Wigan and the former owner of Cowley Road's legendary Zodiac, and current owner of Oxford's Evolution Studios, Nick Moorbath.

Sunday’s selectors include Paddy and Danny.Wav, Del Gazebo, Trol23, DJ Binge, Jason King, Dasher & Wazzy, Miss Splinters and Ella Fantazia.

They share the bill with Sean Paul, Pete Tong, St Etienne, Wild Beasts, Rang ‘n’ Bone Man, Oxford's ColdRedLight and members of Foals and Groove Armada.

The Disco Shed was one of the highlights of the first Common People festival, having first caught the eye of organiser Rob da Bank at his Bestival event on the Isle of Wight.

Aidan, a native of County Limerick and a familiar sight at Oxford's Cowley Road Carnival, said: "We can't wait to party in our back yard once again.

"We're raising our game this year with one or two surprise appearances that I'm not allowed to tell anyone about yet.

"Nick Moorbath had an epiphany at Bestival and found that people he met there were far more likely to be impressed by his Disco Shed AAA pass than the fact he once filled in on tambourine for David Devante and his Spirit Wife. He can't wait to get the party started at Common People. We've given him the best slot of the weekend, staright after Reggae Bingo.

"Elsewhere, local drum & bass phenomenon Danny Wav is making his Disco Shed debut, and Trashy legend Nelly B Page goes back to back with my wife.

"We can't wait."
