WHAT happens when Dr Who meets Darth Vader?

Oxford is about to find out.

Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader during the entirety of the original Star Wars trilogy, and the sixth Dr Who Colin Baker are among the celebrity guests booked to appear at the second ever Oxford Comic Con this weekend.

Star Wars actor and puppeteer Tim Rose (best known for his character Admiral Ackbar in Return of the Jedi), Game of Thrones star Ross Mullan (The White Walker) and Final Fantasy star Jon Campling are also booked to appear at the sci-fi convention at Oxford University Examination Schools on High Street.

Organisers said they were especially delighted to have bagged the veteran Mr Prowse for their show.

Mr Prowse, who is no longer doing international shows, played the role of Darth Vader for the entirety of the original Star Wars trilogy: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope in 1977, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.

Leonardo Davoudi said: "It is a privilege for us to announce that David Prowse is set to attend Oxford Comic Con on both days.

"Star Wars is perhaps Prowse's most important role and a role that has enlisted him as one of the most memorable character villains of all time."

Mr Davoudi also said the team were 'thrilled' to be presenting Colin Baker, who took over from Peter Davidson as a rather cantankerous time lord from 1984 to 1986.

Alongside celebrity guests there will be more than 60 exhibitors including Oxford comic book shop Inky Fingers, artist and writer Anastasia Catris and Superhero Gear UK.

Both days will feature wand-battling workshops by Jon Campling, face and body paint and something called 'instant digital art integration with Ethernalis'.

Video gaming will be on the cards and once again all visitors will be invited to come dressed to the nines to compete in this year's cosplay competition.

The convention has a health warning on its website that 'some costumes and printed imagery at the event may unsettle or distress some individuals'.

More than 1,000 costumed comic fans flocked to the inaugural Oxford Comic Con, organised by a group of 10 Oxford University students, at the Examination Schools last March.
