A MARRIED couple found dead together in the bed of their mobile home died of natural causes, an inquest heard.

Keith and Valerie Dunn were both found dead at their home in Sunny Rise, Horspath, Oxford, by family members on November 19 last year.

An inquest held at Oxfordshire Coroner’s court yesterday concluded the primary cause of death for both people, aged 75 and 72 respectively, was of sepsis caused by unitary tract infections. But coroner Darren Salter said the exact time of death, or who had died first could not be established, in what he said was a ‘unusual’ case. He concluded the couple both died on or around November 4 and 5.

Mr and Mrs Dunn’s sons attended the inquest, which heard how their father was a carer for their mother, who had been diagnosed with dementia in 2010.

Mr Salter told the court how Mr Dunn wished for the couple to maintain their ‘independence’, adding the family had been trying to get them into a care home.

The court heard how there was no evidence of carbon monoxide poisoning and that the gas boiler, cooker and fire were not faulty.

Mr Salter said Mrs Dunn’s death was ‘contributed to by dementia’ adding a secondary cause of Mr Dunn’s death was benign prostatic hypertrophy, contributed by ischemic heart disease.
