STADIUM owner Firoz Kassam was one of a run of Oxfordshire names listed as the UK’s wealthiest in the Sunday Times’s Rich List 2017.

The 62-year-old has climbed the rankings and his £315m fortune puts him at number 321 on the list of 1,000 names.

Tanzanian-born Kassam is a leading player in the London Hotel market and increased his fortune by £30m from last year.

In 2014 he sat at 367th in the list.

The second richest man in Britain is billionaire businessman who funded Oxford University's Blavatnik School of Government, Len Blavatnik.

Mr Blavatnik, who started building his investment, music and media empire in 1986, now has a net worth of £15.982bn.

He gave Oxford University £75m to build the futuristic-looking Blavatnik School of Government which now towers over Walton Street in Jericho.

According to the Rich List, the Ukraine-born investor's pulling power comes from his ownership of Warner Music Group which he acquired in 2011.

Mr Blavatnik, now 59, arrived with his family to America in 1978, is a US and British citizen and has a home in Kensington Palace Gardens, which he splashed out a cool £41m on. 

He was pipped to post only by Indian manufacturing moguls Sri and Gopi Hinduja, whose £16.2bn savings put them in first place.

Although it was a humble beginning for Wafic Said when he moved to London in the 1960s to help his brother run a kebab shop, the 77-year-old is now number 93 on the super rich list with a fortune of £1.38bn.

The businessman, who spent £70m on setting up the Said Business School in Oxford, met two Saudi princesses and began to advise them on their fiancial affairs.

The Syrian-born fixer smoothed the way for the £43bn al-Yamamah arms deal with Saudi Arabia in the 1980s.

Spellbinding actress and star of the Harry Potter film franchise actress Emma Watson makes it into the top 50 richest under 30s, coming in at 20 with a fortune of £39m.

Born in Paris and brought up in Oxford, attening the Dragon School, Miss Watson also has a literature degree from Brown University in the US and is now a United Nations Goodwill ambassador.

Her performance as Belle in the highly-anticipated live action remake of the Disney classic 'Beauty and the Beast' saw her earn a £1.6m appearance fee.

She'll also be making a few more pennies after receiving a cut of the production's takings. In its opening weekend the film took £18.4m, making it the fifth highest-grossing three-day opening for a film.

Charles James Spencer-Churchill, the 12th Duke of Marlborough, who resides at Blenheim Palace is 606th on the list, with his fortune of £188m.

The 61-year-old is set to become the 'Duke of Mortar' with his plans to build 1,600 homes on the Oxfordshire estate.
