THERE was a third defeat in a row for Shipton-under-Wychwood when they lost by 24 runs at home to Chesham in a rain-affected Division 2 match.

The contest was decided on the Duckworth Lewis Stern system, after Chesham made 132-2 from 30 overs.

Shipton’s victory target was adjusted to a tough 153 from 20 overs and they fell short on 128-5.

After being put in to bat, Chesham’s innings was interrupted three times.

A half-century from Luke Webb was the highlight as they reached 132-2 before a storm broke.

The match did not resume until 6pm, and aggressive innings from Andrew Hemming (46), Charlie Miller (20) and Anupam Sanklecha, who hit 45 from 35 balls, kept Shipton in the hunt.

But they could not prevent another defeat.

Thame Town crashed to a 103-run defeat away to leaders Amersham in a match reduced to 45 overs per side.

The hosts, who were put in to bat, scored 222-6, led by a half-century from Andrew Viney.

Will Rooney was the pick of the Thame bowlers with 2-26 from his nine overs.

The visitors were never in the hunt, after a tight opening spell by Sam Helm was followed by four wickets each for seamer Stuart Rogers and spinner Maduka Liyanapathiranage.

Hassam Mushtaq top-scored with 27 as Thame were dismissed for 119 in the 40th over.

Aston Rowant’s 100 per cent record was ended when their match at home to Harefield was abandoned.

Put in to bat, Rowant reached 72-3 from 18 overs before a long interruption for rain.

After the match resumed, Rowant reached 173-8 in their reduced 37-over allocation, thanks to a

half-century from Tom Condon plus useful contributions from James McDougall and Josh Smith.

But before Harefield could begin their reply, the rain returned to wash out play.
