MIKE Whillock is determined to play a leading role in helping Oxford City Stars go from strength-to-strength.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a fresh deal yesterday, joining new signing Warren Jones in committing to the club.

Whillock started his junior career at Oxford before rejoining the club in 2013.

“I’m going to be doing my best to be a leader both on and off the ice,” he said.

Jones, 23, scored 18 goals in 31 games for Basingstoke Buffalos, but was another to start his ice hockey career at Stars as a youngster.

“The new relationship between the junior and senior clubs is a huge step and I’m really excited.”
