OXFORD East MP Anneliese Dodds is expecting to give her maiden speech in the House of Commons today.
Andrew Smith stood down after 30 years as the Labour MP for the constituency and Ms Dodds won a majority of 23,284, up on Mr Smith’s majority of 15,280 in 2015.
Ms Dodds, a former MEP for the South East, is expected to raise the issue of high house prices in Oxford and the lack of affordable housing.
Earlier this month Ms Dodds joined Labour’s frontbench.
She was among 20 appointments to the frontbench and is now shadow Treasury minister.
Ms Dodds has pledged to continue working to ‘combat tax evasion and tax avoidance’.
