BANBURY United boss Mike Ford says his side will continue to improve, despite starting their Evo-Stik South Premier campaign with back-to-back victories.

Banbury beat Dorchester 5-1 last weekend, and followed that up with a 3-1 win at Chesham in midweek, but Ford, who takes his side to Hitchin Town tomorrow, says he will not be taking his foot off the gas.

“We’ve put in two good performances,” he said.

“But within the two games, there are still areas for improvement.

“We should have kept a clean sheet last week, and the goal we conceded from a set-piece in midweek was disappointing.

“Despite the result, we didn’t manage the game as well as I would have liked.”

Hitchin were beaten play-off finalists last season, and have drawn both their opening games.

And Ford knows that Banbury are in for a tough challenge if they want to continue their perfect start.

“It’s a game we must approach in the right way,” Ford said.

“They are a good side and will probably be hoping to go one better this year.

“It will be even more difficult for us, because they will be keen to get their first win, and they are at home.”

Ford says Banbury are working hard for improvement, despite their positive start.

“We don’t just turn up and have a jolly in training,” he said.

“We have some young lads and I want to make them better, so that when they leave us, they can perform at a higher level.”

Sam Humphreys returns for Banbury after missing the midweek win at Chesham in an otherwise unchanged squad.
